Chief Strategic Officer in charge of exit strategy and related Business Development activities - Medtech


Based on 2 patents from ULB University, our Client is currently developing, with a consortium of regional and international partners/subcontractors, a first disruptive ABO POCT (Automatic Point of Contact Testing) device aiming to improve drastically transfusion safety at bedside.


Essential Job Duties:

  • Business Development activities related to exit (no operational sales and clinical activities) in close collaboration with CEO
  • Exit strategy definition and implementation
  • Financial support (no operational accounting) to CEO
  1. Develop and own Company’s exit strategy
  • Establish, nurture and grow relationships at the appropriate levels with potential acquirer targets
  • Position and sell the Company's capabilities and differentiation frameworks to potential acquirer targets
  • Position the Company through local and international venture capital network
  • Organize and hosts potential acquirer target visits, in stand-alone and with CEO
  • Generate NDA, LOI and potential deals with targeted acquirer companies
  • Ensure that all activities and efforts are timely reported to the CEO
  1. Build the Business Development strategy in close collaboration with the CEO
  • Provide general intelligence on key competitors mapping.
  • Research and gather intelligence on target market sectors / organizations and contacts as part of the Business Development process
  • Attend conferences, symposia and exhibitions
  • Collaborate effectively with CEO to bring potential opportunities to his attention
  • Organize meetings autonomously with potential partners
  • Provide regular Business Development activity reports to CEO
  1. Financial support to CEO
  • Take ownership of Company financial model and related valorization analysis in closed communication with CEO
  • Ensure alignment with operational financial management (held by CEO)
  • Integrate operational strategy within financial exit strategy



  • University degree in life sciences or medicine and/or business field, or comparable experience or education, and profound knowledge in Pharmaceutical, MedTech or Biotech industry.
  • Fluent English and French
  • Fluency with at least one more European language: German, Italian, Spanish, Flemish,…
  • Must have strong presentation and writing skills.

Required Experience

  • Experience in Exit/Acquisition is mandatory
  • Experience in Business Development/ Licensing/Implementation of Distributors channels in the Life Science sector is required, preferably in MedTech/IVD (in vitro diagnostics) industry with a comprehensive understanding of the medical device development and commercialization lifecycle
  • Advanced industry MedTech knowledge. Exposure to IVD/Diagnostic and Transfusion field is a plus
  • Able to talk to, or demonstrate your established network of relevant industry contacts
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with CEO
  • Maintain high level of understanding, of the decision-making process with all major targets
  • At least 5 years of sales/Business Development experience, or comparable experience and qualifications
  • Experience in acquiring and integrating companies and/or Mergers & Acquisitions will be highly valuable
  • Access to Venture Capital network and fund raising experience will be important
  • Acquisition and Exit process experience is critical
  • Ability to take ownership on business model and ROI estimates with CEO
  • Demonstrate a clear entrepreneurial drive

  • Reporting to CEO
  • Hiring from 1st of September 2020
  • Location: homework (remote) with bimonthly meetings in Gosselies/Charleroi
  • 40% part-time in Q4 2020, 80% from January 2021 till exit
