Junior Research Engineer - Air Traffic Management - Louvain-La-Neuve


Our client is a consultancy firm specialized in data analysis, modelling and numerical simulation for wind and aeronautical applications. The company, located in Louvain-la-Neuve is a spin-off from the UCLouvain university, founded in 2013.

For aeronautical applications, our client uses its know-how and modelling tools to define, improve and assess (from a safety and performance point of view) new operational concepts related to the optimization of air traffic management (reduction of delays, reduction of noise pollution, reduction of the risk of encountering wake turbulence, increase of capacity). For the wind energy domain, our client develops solutions to problems related to different aspects of wind energy production and optimization based on numerical simulations and operational model development.

The company has a small team of 2 people and also benefits from the scientific expertise of UCLouvain via interactions with the two founding professors who act as technical advisors.


Our client is looking for a Junior Research Engineer interested in aeronautical applications and willing to be part of a small team recognized worldwide for its expertise in this domain.

You will have responsibilities such as :

  • You will have to reinforce the team on current projects in aeronautics, and work on modeling/simulation tools
  • Analyses of experimental data in an operational context
  • The work will also include regular interaction with their Belgian and foreign partners (EUROCONTROL, aircraft manufacturers, Airports, Air Navigation Service Providers, Regulation bodies).
  • Development and use of models
  • Reporting and documentation


  • You have between 0 and 5 years of experience
  • You have a background as an engineer
  • You have an affinity for the aeronautical sector
  • You have skills in MATLAB and python
  • Knowledge and practice in CFD is a plus
  • You master written and spoken English, French is a plus
  • You have an interest in working in a small structure
  • You have common sense and a great desire to learn
  • You have a good capacity of communication and are not afraid to talk to customers
